Shimmer Vertigollo, a poem by Harrison Aye

.
Shimmer vertigollo,
wavestaking vibrato,
pulsing tan texture paint
like a drop, dripping pool
refract, loosen.
A man who sees the rattlebreaks and expandifuls
reach into the wall and
shimmer
.
I remember the police officers parked in the cornfield nearby. The lights flashed on and I thought I never thought out the way in which this would end. I just wanted to stop and look out—connect the speckles above the country road. The city never turned off to allow shows like these, and the moon could never be full during the threeseason rain. I was told to go but I kept you anyway and the night only got dimmer.
.
g.g.glisten now,
hear the sombr.ro dusting
kicked around, circuline dancers
str.tch the allmatter,
a curling fingervine.
Makes me tremble, boggle
collapse or t.mble.
Gets me out, makes me
sav.ry makes me
shimmer
.
I remember morning moaning and meandering calltalks. I got put off for everything I didn’t want anymore anyway in any stretch of this slippery string of thought. I just wanted to be normal; I wanted the glass teardrop eyeliner streaks down the sides of your faces. I wanted to see your cheeks wet with glass sadness. I wanted you to shatter.
.
I see now
wheedle carrymores.
High stakes.and frost on flakes,
barrels fall.ng d.wn the hill
tr.pw.re casanova
Shatters against the iron walls of indifference.
breaks .gainst th. heritic lyric
toenail cracks on the
shimmer
.
I remember the parsed way you told me about love. How four letters shrunk to three: L. U. V. Like popsicle sticks in the craftiverse, towering planets and plants, and the folding arms that made me shiver. All the lip I can bite but nothing does. The whispering man hears me alone and his smile makes me flutter, makes me quiver.
.
.tav. off t.. bow,
.u.cl.ng .o.al.n..
.k.pt.cal, tact.cal
l.k. a block, blown to b.t.
fo..at.on. .ad.al, t.u.t
.. now
t.u.t.ng .ow
T.t....d to you. f..t and
b.auty boundca.t .ak.. ..
......
.
I remember the feeling of not knowing not caring. I couldn’t move for width or word whichever way I went I did. I lost my balance, and with it my perspective. I touched the wall at nights and felt the high gloss tan apartment paint and pushed through it so hard so very hard. I felt the marble benches and told her what I had read. I walked through the springtime rain and walked through the sounding paths against the scaly rails. I watched the water watched the speckled night and hoped someday they’d shimmer.
.

Dime A Dozen, a poem

We're all just like candles,
we sit on the tables,
we light up,
we burn down,
we die.
We're all paranoid, yes,
we're all just pretending,
we're all just a grain in the rye.
We all need to rise up again, to seek what
we all need to keep in our minds. Forever
we learn or forever doth bring.
We're all for each other or no one at all.
We're dime a dozen.

Caterpillars of the Commonwealth, a poem and song by Harrison Aye

caterpillars of the commonwealth by Harrison Aye

for every leaf you consume, a string constricts the caterpillar.
You call them young believers, but that's more than this moth can chew.
You're heading towards the light now, you call it higher intelligence,
your wings can take you there now, and awestruck you will die.
It's when you cut down all the things that make them,
chop off both their wings and break them that you ground them and keep them grounded.
And you can pull off both their legs and choices,
a quiet room and cricket noises,
ground them! keep them under glass!
and it'll all go nova when that last moth hits the fan,
your bloodline boils over in a whirling blade hurricane
and yes I wonder why,
you fly against the wind,
to find reality
is to live in doubt of it

I suppose at the heart of this song is ignorance. Taking things without questioning why they are the way they are. It seems like our world is filled with people who flutter through life without caring about knowing what is ahead of them. Our media blinds us with so much spam and messaging that we forget what is important. We forget that not everything everyone says is inherently true. Some people don't even know that they themselves spread wrong information. Some people think they are doing good by trying to make others conform. I suppose that's what this poem was written about.

And this could swing into political stuff, but I'd rather not. Everyone has their own opinions. Take these words and make them meaningful to you.

The video was shot this night, right outside my house. It's littered with Halloween decorations. I put this up because I felt like doing something different. I've been editing my novel lately, and I've been doing it tirelessly for the last year. I'm trying to make sure it's perfect. Line-by-line. Anyway, I needed a break from that so I made this. I hope you're having a good night. The autumn season is the best season, in my humble opinion. I love the feel of the cool air and the look of the orange leaves.

Sea Lampreys, a Comedic Poem by Harrison Aye in Collaboration with Clayton Sanders

Chordata, subphylum vertebrata,
class cyclostomata,
are the sea lampreys.
A protective slime layer
allows the fish to swim.
I wish I had an air bladder
to have buoyancy.
The operculum
covers my fish's gills.
Over 30 K inhabit the world.
The lateral line is the fishs sense organ.
They have an interior spiny dorsal fin

10,000 species cant be wrong

FISH!!!!!!!!

A protective slime layer
allows the fish to swim.
I wish I had an air bladder
to have buoyancy.
The operculum
covers my fish's gills.
Over 30 K inhabit the world.
The lateral line is the fishs sense organ.
They have an interior spiny dorsal fin.
Some have an adipose fin,
And a caudal fin,
a pectoral fin,
and an anal fin

sandworms, leeches, earthworms, polygordius

Credits: Video and music by Harrison Aye, vocals and lyrics by Clayton Sanders and Harrison Aye together, and drums performed by Brian Wood. This song can be purchased for a buck: http://gum.co/fishsong

Notes: I wrote this song in high school, so don't judge it too hardly. My biology teacher told us to, "Do anything you want with fish for credit." He basically implied that we should all draw a picture of a fish and turn it in, but me and my friend wrote this song instead. The class was in shock as we played it in front of them, totally overdoing what should have been a simple project. I shot the video while I lived in Seattle. It's a tour of the famous Pike Place Fish Market. One last thing, I wrote this in high school; I don't actually know if the lyrics are accurate to the actual science, and I reckon I got some things wrong.

Eclipse, A Poem By Harrison Aye

Eclipse by Harrison Aye

My kind of women doesn't need anyone,
it seems she'll wrap you 'round her pinkie while she dials with her thumb.
She'll step into the elevator without word from her mouth,
but let the door fully open before thinking of stepping out.

Can you read minds?
cause you're never around, (because you're never around)
except for these moments,
impetuous passerby,
from the corner of my eye.

You can eclipse most anything,
and set all the ocean's waves offbeat,
but this is no dissonant haiku,
I'm looking at the sky tonight,
Are you?

Your kind of face is just too hard to miss,
you've got a phasing cat smile,
and a strawberry kiss.
Your strut's illuminated,
only comes out at night.
Your paradox can put out the sun,
and bring out the brightest light.

Can you read minds?
cause you're never around,
except for these moments,
impetuous passerby,
from the corner of my eye.

You can eclipse most anything,
and set all the ocean's waves offbeat,
but this is no dissonant haiku,
I'm looking at the sky tonight,
Are you?

I enjoy rotation on this Earth,
but sometimes I wish I'd fall up into the sky.
When our paths cross I'd dream that you'd turn back toward me.
No, I wish that you'd turn back
with me.

I must find out if you read minds or eyes,
do you have that potential?
and what you think when you read mine.
Am I the passerby,
from the corner of your eye?
You can eclipse most anything,
and set all the ocean's waves offbeat,
but this is no dissonant haiku,
I'm looking at the sky tonight,
Are you?

Notes: I wrote this poem because I kept crossing paths with this girl on my college's campus. I think I had love-at-first-sight, because everything she would walk by, I would be frozen with that tingly feeling. Some days, I would set out with nerve and the intention to finally talk with her, but I never saw her on those days. No, it seemed like she only ever walked by when I was least expecting it. I was never prepared, although, I did end up talking to her a few times. She started dating a friend of mine, though, but I never stopped having my secret crush for her. She was totally out of my league, anyway.

I was in several bands throughout my life, and usually any poetry I wrote would eventually be turned into a song. The video is a recording of that song, performed by some awesome area musicians, one of which leads an awesome band called LuxPerSono (https://www.facebook.com/luxpersono). I took the video at PAX Prime while I lived in Seattle. It is distorted mainly because I took the footage on my 3DS, but I find the low-quality perfect for a lyric video like this.
